daily devotions

time really flies. one moment i was starting the last semester of school, the next i am preparing for my final exams of law school. still, 4 years seem so short. can still recall my experience as a 'freshie' at law camp in june 2004. then, i was thinking: 2008 is my graduation. what a long way.

but i am here in april 2008 looking at 4 years of legal education and desperately studying for insurance, international commercial litigation, comparative crim and finishing up my globalization and international law research paper.

anyway, this is really an aside because my main purpose for this entry is to concretize my daily devotionals. small group had a wonderful retreat in batam 2 weeks ago and my aim was to really get seeped into the Word. meditation and absorbing the Word is what i will be trying to do now. so, everyday, hopefully, i will enter my devotional here and when i have the time, i will comment on it.

my devotions dont come from a fixed place. i go to a few websites and sometimes my daily verse will be what i listened to or read recently.

anyway, i was just reading up on the 10 lost tribes of Israel and am really interested to find out WHO are the 10 last tribes.
just some history: After the reign of Solomon and some time after that (not sure of exact details) the Israelites were separated into 2 kingdoms: the northern kingdom of Israel which consisted of 10 tribes and the southern kingdom of Judah which consisted of 2 tribes. ('jews' are short form for "Judahites", the inhabitants of Judah).

The Assyrians conquered Israel and supposedly deported them all over. so, many israelites fled and were spread all around the world. no one is sure where and who they are.

the theory is that the some nations of the world today belong to the 10 tribes. some believe Chinese are. Japanese are. Ethiopia are. and so on and forth.i dont think we will ever be sure of this until we get to heaven. but i know that will be one of the questions i ask Jesus when i see Him.

as for the current nation state of Israel, if i am not wrong, they only consist of the the southern nation of Judah, and thus are called Jews. only 2 tribes.

where are the 10 lost tribes of israel?

OK, NOW ON TO MY purpose of this entry:

my verse for today is Psalms 1: 1-4

Psalm 1
BOOK I : Psalms 1-41
1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.

i am looking at this verse because of a sermon i am currently listening to.
when i have time i will share what it's about.
