SIA first class and tv shows

to the lucky one who is off to Germany and who sat first class there, you blessed child of God!
when will i get to seat first class. i will i will i will.

on another note, i am curently 'hooked' on a Channel U tv show, it's called Hard Fate. it is a TVB (from hongKong) drama on a jade company and its owners and the love affairs, mysteries etc etc. Dont know how i got hooked to it also. seems like a very auntie thing to do but i assure you, this show is really exciting. the plot is awesome and the acting is great.

but still, i feel a little sheepish being addicted to the show. that i have to rush off from meetings to watch the show. rush joni from shopping to watch the show. plan my study timetable around the show. but when i like a show, i really like it. i will follow it religiously. current other show i am hooked on: RAW on WWE. yes, back to my teenage years when i was hooked. i am again. love the show. but am giving it up this 2 weeks for the exams. especially since the monday night screenings are at 3AM. that is too disruptive.

ok another kind of programme i am hooked to is the most normal one of all.
soccer matches. this season is especially exciting since Manchester United are fighting for the Treble. Every match from now is damn exciting. i also decided that having exams does not equate to having no life. i can still watch my shows, go for cell group, church, eat out, meet friends. just as long as i get around 8 hours of work everyday.

life cannot be all abot work isnt it. for that reason i have made up my mind NOT to apply to any of the firms which work their lawyers till 10 or 11 pm on a regular basis. Work, for me, cannot take my life. yeap, i know, some of you guys going to tell me that is impossible, that if you want success you have to earn it and all that. u think i am willing to forgo a bit of 'success' for my life, i just cannot imagine myself working so much. pardon me, i believe that it is unhealthy, and should not be inevitable for every lawyer in Singapore.

Actually, why not we have a campaign to reduce a lawyer's working hours? but then again, that might never happen as some people might be happy working so much, happy working for the money. which means that slack people like me have to suffer. ok i better stop saying how slack i am cos some future employer might be reading this.

I AM NOT SLACK. i study 12 hours a day. i am the type who 'chopes' classrooms in school early in the morning at 7am. i love family law, restitution, and comparative evidence. i am the type of lawyer you want for your firm. YES!

anyway, i was having a boh-liao conversation with KFC boy, bill, and melmel about what we wanna do if we dont do law.
i think KFC boy wants to be a baker. or maybe he can go into modelling.
bill looks and seems very much like a civil service kinda guy.
melmel seems happy to be in legal work.
for myself, i dont know. i would like to have my own business. previously i wanted to go into acting. when i was sec 2 it was taxi driving. david tan wanted to be a rapist.

ok ok. back to work. here's a picture of my blue hippo in my backseat. taken by ziliang and mel.

death

my granduncle 'Boo' aka Thomas Boo passed away last week at the age of 80. yesterday we had the funeral service held at the Mandai Crematorium.
after the service, the body and the coffin was sent to the furnace thing to be converted into ashes.

many of the relatives and friends attending the whole process were upset, obviously.
some were crying and saying their last good byes to the body.

i thought i would give a christian perspective (my own view) of deaths. and remind myself.
when a christian 'dies', he merely goes to sleep. and he is going to a better place: Heaven. therefore at some christian funerals you would not see too much wailing or sadness. if there would be, it probably be emotional loss. however, there should be greater joy, since we know that the person who has slept is going to a better place, and that we will re-unite there, and meet each other again.

1 Thessalonians 4: 13-14
13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

the life that we lead on earth is but temporal. i think there are many religions which teach that too. i believe the reason it is so universal is that...cos it is true. i believe that.

anyway, as the body was being sent to 'burn', there were people bidding farewell to the body. perhaps there is an over obsession with the physical body. no doubt, it is our temple, our most outward, conspicuous expressionn of ourselves. but we are also soul and spirit. i believe the soul dies along with the body, but the real us: the Spirit, lives.
Men has placed a premium on the flesh, on what we can see. but once we 'sleep', we realise the Spirit has moved on.
so the people need not be overly sad at the cremation, cos only the outward appearance of granduncle Boo was gone. He still lives, in the heavenly places.

if i ever do 'sleep' before the second coming of Christ, the funeral has got to be a happy, joyful, celebration.
at this point, for somebody's sake, i will have to proclaim: 'God Forbid'.

of course i would prefer to see Christ coming in my lifetime.
ok, sorry about the morbid entry about death, but really, its not that morbid after all. Good day.
