play a jazz chord

joke of the year so far for me, courtesy of *someone in law school but he does not want me to mention his name so i shall not but for those who caught the unedited r(a) version and know who he is, good for you.* but i modify a bit. dont wanna insult other races, so shall use the 'singaporean' who has broken english.

stevie wonder finishes his performance at a club. everyone stands and cant stop applauding.
at the back of the room a singaporean shouts:
'play ah jess cord!'
ok...stevie obliges and goes on half an hour of amazing jazz, rocking hot jazz. the crowd hoots at the end and are thoroughly entertained. then the singaporean goes again:
'ah ah play ah jess cord!'
'i just did play a jazz chord!' wonders stevie. being the good ole performer he is, he goes on another super half an hour of jazz man. real cool jazz that is hot shit man! and at the end the crowd really cannot take it. it's burning in there. wooh!

then the singaporean goes: 'Ah..can you play -ah jess cord to say i love you-? my favourite song.'

HAHAHAHA. I LAUGHED NON STOP. THE GUY BESIDE ME OUTSIDE THE LIBRARY WAS RATHER AMUSED.
ok..back to the memo. if you dont get the joke, it's - i just called to say i love you- . wonderful song. heh heh.

subjectivity

different people work in different ways. some people thrive on compliments. some people, you cant compliment them too much.
some people, the more you compliment, the more they will stop complimenting themselves. and be secure.
others, the less you compliment, the more they will compliment themselves. to be secure.

have you figured out where you are?

dear sylvia. sorry about steve. it was really an accident. i had to obey the law of gravity, and there was no mens rea. but i am sorry all the same. sometimes...things just go wrong. many things like to go wrong. why do things go wrong?

answer me please, God, friends, and whatever else that is existent in this world.

swimming and studying

sorry if i offend you or hurt you or defame you in any way on my blog(but i will try my best not to). but that's a price to pay for being my friend. or at least, knowing me. so far no names have been mentioned. but today there are!

Quek Chin Yong was telling me how Jothie loves to prompt people in telling her the answers she wants to hear. she does this cockadoodle head action and i think chin yong described it quite accurately. and it was really funny. her head goes forward then back then forward continuously, like a rooster. i think she's still in the chinese new year mood.

anyhow, i swam 20 laps at the SRC and spent the last 4 laps trying to meditate.

'trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.'

however my path was not getting straight exactly cos i had no goggles on and i couldnt swim straight. but thankfully the only thing i collided with was the floating barrier, and not the girl swimming next to me.

since i swam 'SO MUCH' i thought it was good to make up for it and i ate quite a few pieces of shumin's delicious chocolate biscuits from marx and spencer. oh they are delicious. So this is to all my admirers. if you want to impress me you can buy me a box of chocolate biscuits from marks and spencer. oh this is to all my friends too, if you wanna express your friendship in gastronomical terms.

a new beginning

i am going to lay down the short term goals for the week:
1. be well versed in legal theory
2. be happy with my memorial. do it well.
3. meditate and seek God at least 15 mins in the middle of every day.
4. swim

i need to start afresh. been the shittiest law student since sem 2 started. Now i will go full force. no more law ball (which was really fun) no more side issues, just being good. and being a good law student. no more drinking. frens, please push me. i need to be pushed. God, please meet me. i need to be met. Food, please avoid me, i need to be avoided.

my very first real entry

people love to stereotype law students. it's as if we are GOds you know. we are supposed to know everything and anything that functions on this earth.

Mary (one of my managers at work) : Zhiwei, poouurrr the water into the AIR-POT outside plEEaassseee???
Zhiwei : airport???? (i never knew airports existed outside my workplace. the only other airport i knew
was the option at the top right hand screen of my ibook.)
Mary : Yaaaa. the AIRPORT outside! you know you know, the airpot, hot water one!
Zhiwei : (what the heck?) ????
Mary : Wah lau!!! the hot water flask la!!! for them to drink coffee and milo one!!! Air-pot la! you dont know
MEHH?
Zhiwei : Ya! how i know!!!?? (i mean, it's just a hot water flask man!)
Mary : YOU LAWYER WHAT! YOU KNOW AH, JUST NOW ah..etc.... blah blah...blah

i couldnt hear the remainder of her sentence(s) cos i was en route to the airport already.

So i have learnt a new term for a hot water flask. perhaps thats why God wants me to continue working here. i learn something new everyday. Anyway i am at work now. 1 hour ago, i learnt of some business tactics from MAry. she was teaching about how to organize a large company and its resources. her sis happens to be a lawyer as well.

i do respect her, Mary. she's quite a character. and she's fun to be with. oh. my colleague just complimented me. 'nice hair'.
ho ho ho back to work. (reading blogs, books, deciphering God's will, natural law.)
wowee. i got a blog.
