reminiscence
dont know why but this memory keeps coming to me. it was last december when NUSVCF had their annual anntic camp at Cameron Highlands. it was damn fun.
i didnt make many good friends there though. i went with some good friends. there were quite a few law people there and i think they were the only people whom i knew.
the whole camp was very enjoyable. perhaps because it was a good break from the hectic first sem of school. where we had return concert, repro filming and of course, the damn exams. cameron highlands was damn peaceful. the weather was amazing. the bible studies were not bad but not as intensive as the ones i am used to. the food was good but somehow, i just didnt feel like i belong. perhaps because many of them already knew each other. i kept telling myself, maybe it's cos they ostracize law students? but now i dont think so. i think i was just not frenly enough. actually i really am quite a shy guy but people dont think so.
so anyway, i had a lot of fun still. there were many times where, after the lunch, i needed a part 2. good thing things come in pairs, so usually shawn gillian elesse vic and i would go for our second lunch. the nearby roadside coffeeshop had quite good penang laksa and maggi goreng. and it was cheap. and all the ice cream, wah shiok.
there was this day shawn l-less vic and i decided to venture a bit further so we walked a longer way out to this cluster of older buildings which looks like....sin ming that area just more ulu. there was a coffeeshop and we ate prata, nasi padang, tissue prata and some other stuff which i forgot. that was real fun. peaceful. serene. cold. good conversation. thoughts on GOD. discussions on relationships. i really liked it.
on the last day of the camp, we had a little R&R. we visited strawberry farms, had some great fresh ice cream. shiok. we visited the BOH tea factory, had some great snacks and hot tea amidst the cold weather. we droppped by a market and bought a lot of foooood. and shared with the bus. so fun. oh ya, there was this quite cute girl in the camp too. we bought ramly burger, fried stuff, and a lot of nonsense. we just ate and ate.
i remember this particular moment on that R&R day when shawn gill and i were sitting at the front of the bus when it was negotiating a very challenging bend and it looked as if we would all fall down and meet GOD(hopefully). we were talking about some stuff and at that point it just seemed so calm and relaxed and i was damn happy. i dont know why but that scene plays back in my head every now and then. during this trip i discovered that gill can eat a lot. that makes good company.
i loved the trip. i love church camps.
