another great week

alright alrighty time for my weekly update. alright maybe previously i have complained of law school and i wanna get out and all, but hey, it's been great this week and i am in a terribly great mood! what a fantastic week!

but before i begin my round up, i want to say that i have decided not to sell my life to law school and be trapped in schoolwork and taking part in this and that. i decoided that i shall be more active outside i think..and grades dont matter to me anymore. yea i will still work for it but i will no longer be stressed about stuff(at least for the 2nd year). so i AM going to play. and this week was testimony of it...haha...

ok so basically. i now see myself as ZHIWEI who also happens to be a law student. i was previously the law student- zhiwei. maybe i was trying to be somebody i am not. but i wanna be myself again. meaning - i want to play!!!

friday i skipped Ewing's company lecture for maxwell brunch and yakun after that! my usual outings with the makankakis!!!!!! really miss these kinda outings and now that kenny is going off again, the ARE going to get less but heck, we will still continue eating!!!! the pics are a lil random and not in proper order. sorry about that. this is the lovely yakun eggs, toast, and ice lemon tea. it is undoubtedly the best!!!!!! i know some of you are killiney fans, but sorry..i really love yakun. i would climb the mountains for it, swim the deepest seas and kill the largest sharks for my yakun. and always eat the Far EAst Square one. the rest..i think..not as good la.

ok this is my FAVOURITE onde onde, from maxwell. i cannot descibe how good it is. it really is the the the best. its really quite unbelievable. the coconut flakes, the skin, the juice. this one also i can die for it. and it is always sold out damn fast. i SWEAR it is the best.

kenneth yam and i at yakun! he's studying medicine at Ireland.

for all those who dont know, this is KENNY, the original Devil, makan kaki, advocate of pork oil and fattening foods of the world. he is on an oyster cake here at maxwell. its really good, this oyster cake, i never liked oyster cake but this one is just breathtaking!!! alright so who else was at maxwell? my fellow zao-er shawn chen, lion king, ros, and junjun, who took a break from work at OCBC and joined us! i love the porridge. chinatown is really..shiok. i will love it forever my life.

ok this was thursday night when kenny i and xudes and lion were at BK orchard. i love BK's taro pie.

anyway this week on tuesday, shawn, lion, kenny, sumei and i had dinner at wee nam kee chicken rice. most of them really like wee nam kee chicken rice. i think it's not bad, but that day the chicken didnt seem very tender to me. but whatever it is, everyone should know that i LOVE BOON TONG KEE chicken rice the most. for me, that defines chicken rice. i've been eating boon tong kee ever since i could chew. hahah no la. but really, i have been eating at the balestier outlet since i was 8 or 9. back then, they still had their backrow open and all. nowadays its much nicely done up, but their fried beancurd and fishhead is still unbeatable. i also think their sambal kangkong is the best i have ever tried and of cos, the chicken and the rice itself. i dont mind marrying boon tong kee's daughter.

shawn and i showing off the food from wee nam kee. look at that chicken! look at the skin! after that the cell went to watch MUST LOVE DOGS. but shawn kianteck kenny and i went to watch the MAID. i thought it was quite good and at least there is a plot. not so silly. i liked it and i give it 3 and a 3/4 upon 5 popcorns. yea. too bad i fell sick then and went back to kenny's place to sleep immediately.

the next day, wednesday, was supposed to have prop tutorial at 11. BUT.... i was kinda sick and tired... and did not prepare. and how can you go class when your frens are downstairs discussing where to eat for brunch? SO, lion kenny shawn and i went to eat hainanese TIAN TIAN curry rice at bukit merah, and BOY AM I GLAD i went! fantastic! kenny always say its damn good, but i have forgotten the taste cos the last time i went was 2 years ago i think. but this time. ialso say, its the BEST!!!! it's shiok!!! the assam fish curry, i can eat unti l i shout - 'WHY YOU SO DELICIOUS!!!!!!!'. REALLY IT IS THE BEST. OK LA IT'S A LIL EXPENSIVE, BUT REALLY WORTH IT. 4 of us had fish, pork chop, big pork ball, 3 layer fatty meat, cabbage, brinjal, and sotong. about $7 plus each. i swear it is the best.

the 3 of them just before we started eating.

yes, the best curry rice.

ok this pic is a lil out of place sorry i dont know how to upload the pics properly. this is sumei scooping soup and dumplings at wee nam kee. she's so aunty! haha but she's the cutest aunty around la! great to have her back from princeton!

so anyway yesterday, after cell, we went for supper at Macpherson Kopitiam and then eileen kevin Joni and i went shopping at MUSTAFA. and i bought a shirt. it is quite a cute shirt. i like midnght shopping at mustafa. it's empty, fun, and there really is a lot to look there. including my dear G shock watches. but anyway, after that then we went airport to send eugene off. he went McGill for exchange. hmmm.. so fun.

i am considering applying china for exchange. school's really been great and i like that people are so funny and intelligent. and i had a great engine canteen breakfast with kerong, lilly, melvin, jess and kianteck on thursday, the day that pam drove to school. haha. ok i know i been a lil slack la but i am going to pick up soon. i just dont want to enslave myself you see. but i will work..when the going gets tough. and kenny is still in town la. must EAT EAT EAT. next up - AL AZAR. i like their nasi goreng pattaya.

ok seriously, been finding GOd on another level, and i think i am currently facing a test from HIM. i do hope to see GOd on a greater and greater level at each test. but really, GOD, thanks for a great week. whatever it is, dear Lord, please help me make the right decisions and and glorify YOU in all i do. i submit all i am to You. take the step of FAITH.

today, some of us went to support lionking and his band at the esplanade!! and boy were they popular!!!!! the crowd snapped up their sample CDs even before they finished their set! the applause was thunderous man! and at the end, this British man beside me was ranting and raving about how cool they were!!! haha!

'Marvellous! Wonderful! Are they Singaporean?! (as if singaporeans are incapable of making tunes) Dont you have any more CDs! I'll pay for it! I really want one!! Absolutely MArvellous!'

so i told him, 'hey man, i know the guitarist', then i brought him to see lion king and they managed to appease him with a CD. no jokes man. this Ang Moh was actually sitting at one of the nearby restauranst but was attracted to the music and came to listen and he really found them fantastic! SHIOK! LION KING IS FAMOUS! WOO HOOO!

i am very happy

ok it's been a great week so far. AH. thank God. anyway, saturday, i went sim lim and got myself my new thumb drive!!! its a 256mb imation, and i think i sort of vandalized her by writing my name on it. there. also, after that, i went to the pasar malam at bugis for the first time. and it was an eye opener. it's actually quite interesting and they do have a lot of stuff there. something that i am definitely going to take a better look at is the faded jeans, they were going at $20 per pair. hell cheap. overall, very interesting experience. my new thumb, i dont know what to call it though.

monday at school, had a very very chaotic trial and advo lecture. the place was being turned upside down by lim lei theng and her idea of a quiz. seemed a bit like a zoo, with people flashing, shouting, screaming, and answering questions. many of them were trick questions for the record. and know what!? my group ended up with an embarassing -5 points!!!! the top groups had like 50 points la! wah!!! anyway after that i took bus back with pam and i went home earliest ever for a school day. i think it was 4 something pm. amazing.

tuesday, went for lecture only to find it cancelled. was quite fine with that anyway cos i had to settle my withdrawal letter from the LAWCLUB campaign and went for ghim moh lunch with kianteck shawn and kenny. kenny shawn ros and i had dinner at this amazing place in chinatown, quaint little restaurant near maxwell market with great food, anique original chinese decor and a cute jap girl in my line of view. i enjoyed the Beijing food (it's about a thrillion zillion times better than biz's beijing fengwei) and they had good chinese pancakes and pizzas. i am very upset though that i forgot to bring my camera to take fotos of that restaurant. another time perhaps. watched 7 swords after that. not bad.

wednesday, today. had VCF welcome tea and once again God told me that i need to be more holy. am really glad to feel God and hear him. i thought Paul's message on us being sinners, yet saved, and are now SONS(and daughters) and are sent to the world very meaningful. indeed i thought about my vision in Law and i really want to be a christian who happens to be a lawyer and not the other way round. am also encouraged by the good turnout of year 2s and year 1s for the welcome tea.

we had a 'christians in LAW 2' dinner at village in China Square Central. jess jo gillian shawn kianteck Bob jordan nick grace joseph and i were there. sorry for the poor publicity, hope all the other christians can make it for the next dinner on AUG 31!!!!!! of course all are welcome to join us, we will probably discuss how we can pray and care for our batch and LAWFAC in general!!!we had a great time laughing talking and even telling ghost stories haha. we also arranged to continue our daily prayer sessions b4 lectures, and for us to try gather our year christians to be more united and all. really, i think we need a lot of prayer and stuff. am really glad that this dinner took place. i had a great time really. GOD IS MOVING I TELL YOU.

anyway, to end off, this is yet another thing i bought. really love this and been looking long and hard for a G Shock to replace my old one. this one is so funky! and i got it cheap! $80 at Bras Basah. its beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeap yes...so......thank God...and....now to prep for company law lecture. night.

2nd wek of school starting

ok i have so much to say, i should have taken notes. so much floating in my mind now.

i had thai food today at first thai in purvis street with my parents. its slightly expensive but the quality is not bad. but i am not exactly a fan of thai food.

i have decided not to run for LAWCLUB. since law camp ended i have been wanting to run. but now..... especially this week, this first week of school, i think my priorities have changed? i dont think i wanna spend my life in Law School like how i did in year 1. basically, i am taking a step out. i did enjoy my first year...but....its kinda complicating and i really feel i need a breath of fresh air now....

besides that...i would say....life is still exciting. very much in fact. but in all i do, must have patience. whatever God plans or has in store for me, i do not want to destroy. i would like it to be perfect. no jumping the gun.

decided not to go for the bash cos i really want out of that kinda lifestyle. oh ya, i am quitting hard liquour for good. no more getting drunk anymore. sorry frens, especially those who love to see me drunk...haha.....no more entertainment for you guys.... so do cherish those videos. you'll probably never get that side of Zhiwei anymore. unless its somewhere near my wedding date, which wont be anytime soon seeing that i am still single.

school started but i really have not done anything. theres a shit load to read...and..... i get this feeling its very competitive. i really dont want it so pressurizing. shit i think deep inside me the old lazy ac slacker is still very actve. kenny's been back for about 2 weeks and its been damn fun with him around. eating, soccer, staying over, watching shows, suppers. but school has to start. then recently, somehow, there have been many fun activities. like cell's BBQ at YangLin's house. and the zoo. sooo fun. and mahjong. and having jason ho back. and we still can laugh over the same stuff and talk cock like it was in the past.

thank God that at least, i like what i am studying. it just seems... a lil too pressurizing sometimes. i think i really wanna do something i enjoy for a career. i still am unsure..but...increasingly, it feels as if it is not being a 9am-12am lawyer....

just trust God to bless you in all that you do...and all that is going to happen.

i happen to be approaching some kind of spiritual revival. i really dont want to lose it again. victorious christian life. can it happen? can it work? is there such a thing? i do think it can be! it can happen! i can enjoy life to the fullest! finding fulfilment in God and not letting other 'gods' rule you! i dont want to be a slave to this world anymore! i want fulfillment!

i dont wanna lose it this time serious. i also do not want to make the wrong moves anymore. just do the right thing....was trapped for my first year in uni....

i really had a lot more to say...i shall pen it down if i can rem...goodnight.

has school really started?

school just started but i am just not in the damn mood. anyway, it's only the first week. guess i can afford to slack a lil1i heard people already started doing their readings. shit man.

i went to town for lunch, slack around and buy stuff after prop law lecturee on monday. it was fun and interesting. but i got poked at by Tan Sook Yee. Sigh. 1st day of school and i must kanna. caught charlie and chioiojcl;ateg facxopothiry78. i thought it was ok only. just OK. i like the hoopalampas though or whatever they are la. they're funny. then it was Ros' house for dinner and cut ian's cake!!!!!!! ate hell lot. Ros really wanted to make us eat until we explode. i appreciate that actually. the chicken mayo and egg pizza was great! then we went kenny's house for Shutter. the best Horror show ever. please frens, GO WATCH IT!!!!!!!!

lion king, ian(wah hanstome sia) and me

Sweet Ros and 'sultry' me

Law Camp Day 2

Day 2

LAND TELE

The station ICs, managed by Azmin, went down to SRC 45 mins earlier to set up. Earlier than that however, some were already there making water bombs. Kudos to these unsung heroes. Azmin and Joanne did a great job and this was one activity I never needed much worrying cos they always had everything laid out beautifully. And everything did go well, on time, and we all had lotsa fun(at least I did).

The skit preceding the activity was performed by Shawn at the SRC basketball court. He was Hitler, gathering his troops and Land Tele was sort of a training procedure for the freshmen. It was really quite funny and he can actually act quite well. Maybe only in funny roles such as these. The best was his Hitler salute which occurred erratically, accompanied by the crisp shout ‘HITLER!’. It was really retarded and funny.

Ok on to the games. For this activity, I accompanied my OG8 around, cheering them on and helping when I could. First – the Captain’s Ball station. Quite fun, and I really enjoyed seeing them throwing bags of dirty water around. Some looked like leftover cheng teng from 1 week, complete with sweet potato. 1 problem however was that the ground had many giant roots, and as a result, one freshmen, Audrey from OG3 injured herself in the course of the game. On the whole I think we did not emphasize safety enough and I am thankful that this was the only ‘major’ injury. I think in RnF and Matric we need to be more caring towards the freshmen and watch out for their safety and general well-being,

Next station, OG8 went to Shen and Mel’s pass the orange station. These 2 are really thick skinned. I think every OG that came had to call cheer loudly and call them ‘babes’! haha! Quite entertaining seeing them pass the orange with various body parts. But my OG lost and we had to carry each other piggy-back style and run-up and down the slope. I did my part and carried a freshmen up and down too! Fun fun!

Next, this really dirty station called dirt path. Once again, I enjoyed seeing the freshmen going thru the dirt and getting damn dirty! I wanted it to be worse actually but I think I would have been opposed. But anyway I managed to throw a few eggs on the dirt path. Just to add to the madness. OG2 lost to us and Andrew and Grace, as a forfeit, had to crawl through the path too. Haha.

Last, hit the OGLS. I had fun pouring soap water on the canvas but I think I didn’t deter the freshmen much. More fun was hitting tricia and xiaohui with water bombs and pouring buckets of water all over the place. The activity didn’t stop there however. After the games were finished, some of us councilors went crazy and began attacking each other with water bombs and the leftover eggs. Now that’s what I call fun! I stupidly failed in cracking a egg on Gillian shoulders. I forgot that eggs are not that easy to crack. SORRY Gillian for bruising your shoulder. Anyway I think she got her revenge when she splattered an egg all over my back and neck. That was really sick. But I got back when I camped outside the toilet and SPLAT the egg on her hair. Ok all in the name of fun! Besides this, I vividly remember Michelle like a mad woman throwing waterbombs at various guys. That was damn fun too. HAHA. Then the freshmen went back, washed up, and went off for their scavenger hunt.

SCAVENGER HUNT

So after they left, I bathed and settled in TH hall and rested. Han Bob and some others went to HV to buy lunch so Jackson Melanie Sicong and I played a bit of Mahjong. It was fun, resting in the afternoon. But lunch took quite a long time and I was damn hungry. I duly devoured my whopper when it arrived 1 hour plus late.

We started Jungle Trek prep at about 5, with various briefings, and stations being set up. Was quite stressful at this time cos I was afraid we could not co ordinate the kidnapping and guides stuff. Many OGs were coming back late from SH and we started our briefing late. Also, we had to walk the ground b4 starting the activity proper. But the PICs Han and Michelle and the AICs Melanie and sicong were capable enough and though everything started late it was well organized. Great. I was a guide so was not overseeing the whole event. Rather, I was having fun! FUN!

JUNGLE TREK

So the kidnapping started at about 9. I was situated at the level 5 lift lobby in Arts with Shellen, Kailing and Arvind. We tried scaring the freshies when they came out of the lift but I think we failed! They appeared to be blur than anything else. Perhaps they were too shackled by this time of the day. After all, they had already gone through land tele and the afternoon walking in the city hall area. I must say the ski masks that Arvind and I wore were real fun. But he was complaining half the time on how racists the masks were. They could not accommodate his very sharp nose! Haha! So we kidnapped them, shouted at them. Blindfolded them, and set them in their details.

Then the ‘tour’ started! I chose my detail, made of 3 men. Longjin, Winston, and Daniel. There were then known as the ‘Muskees’ (short form for Musketeers) and I told them to call me Sathya. Haha
.

from left, Winston, Daniel(best looking freshie), and Longjin.

The stations are too many and too long to recount. Basically, I had a lot of fun. I usually prefer to be on the ground and doing stuff like this but my appointment in this camp limited my opportunities of meeting and playing with freshmen. I am so glad I was a guide for Jungle Trek.

I think many of us had fun asking stupid questions, tricking the freshmen, and basically doing things to people when they are blindfolded. It’s very thrilling. The swing station was very entertaining, thanks to the guys who made it seem like some Indian station. The accents were really damn funny. Another funny station was the holding area at the Barrels. Bob was bloody funny with a pseudo British accent. He sounded like a mad professor teaching/forcing people to dance. It was hilarious. I don’t know which entertained me more, Bob or the freshmen dancing.

The cat maze station looked like hell. It was chaos all over. Food, water, powder, everything was everywhere. It was hell messy. I had great fun pairing up winston and Quan Quan though. I made him propose and she had to hold the flower everywhere. Haha. There was a lot of shit going on in that station. Shawn was also going crazy making his detail dance and whisper sweet nothings to each other, problem was they were all guys. Haha. I remember a Joseph being a particular good dancer. They should rope him into presentation.

After I bumped into Andrea. She didn’t seem entirely happy about being blindfolded for so long. Cant blame her. I was really sick of this activity last year. I hated it. So this year was our turn to play! Yeay!!! Anyway we had trustfall and something unfortunate happened. One of my detail guy’s shoes was apparently too slippery and he fell off the table, knocking Julia off the table as well. Literally knocked her off her feet. Thankfully he was alright. She however had a great big bruise on her left thigh. It was huge. But, it was ok and nobody was too hurt.

The people behind the kidnapping at level 5. Arvind zhiwei Kaiyuan Shellen

Me just b4 the freshmen unblindfold themselves after 5 hours of 'FUN'.

Xiaohui Gillian and Hsien Fei with their details just before set off.

Councilors looking satisfied after torturing freshmen.

Grace looking fresh even at 3am. must be having a great time at Jungle Trek.

group of madmen. April CX Adam xiaozhu Arvind Liangwei.

At the end, we gathered them all at the BIZ lobby and asked them to take off their blindfolds. At the count of 1,2,3 we had a
‘WELCOME TO LAW SCHOOL!’
I thought that was really great. Then we had Han to give a short speech on the purpose of jungle trek and all. Then we packed up. It was very quick and the councilors were quite co operative and I think we finished everything at 3 plus. So I slept at 4 or thereabouts. I enjoyed Jungle Trek the most, out of all the activities. I think cos most other times I was involved in overseeing but this time I actually had the chance to play and interact with others. And it was great. However making sure all the other activities went well and everyone enjoying themselves was also very satisfying for me. So it’s a give and take la. You cant have your cake and eat it.

Supper this night was very good we had chicken foldovers and egg sandwiches. It was really good. It’s a pity many were too tired and didn’t eat them. I think we had at least 50 people’s share leftover. What a great pity. I ate 2. It was to make up for my dinner, which I missed due to the evening’s events. I really like the Temasek and Sheares Hall caterer. The guy in charge is Vincent and he and his wife/sister/friend are really nice. They even gave us free breakfast on Friday. And most importantly, their food is good. Not like last year’s law camp, where we had sh*t food!

CHOO family

this is my family at Vines Restaurant, Novena, for my parents dunno whatff wedding anniversary. i think it is 25th. anyway, School is starting, i am dead tired, have not bought my books. why holidays end so fast? but then again, i am quite excited to start school man. no more PGP, take bus everyday. sounds daunting. oh ya but i will be moving house at end of the year or early next year. just hope i move to a place which does not require me to walk 100 upslope whenever i go out. either that or someone buy me a car. jess can give me her suzuki swift.

Sylvia Carol and Ziliang looking happy and EXCITED FOR LAW CAMP 2005!!!!!!

INTRODUCTION AND CHECK IN
The freshmen came earlier then expected. We told them to report at 830, but at 745, there were already a couple of them. Thus some councilors were deployed to take care of them and slowed down our admin process. The aim was to get all councilors checked in before 9 so that thereafter the O TEAM could entertain the freshmen. However, since we could only get the keys at 830 and not 8 as planned, we only managed to check all councilors in by 930 thereabouts. Lesson learnt= don’t underestimate freshmen. They are excited and will come on time. I think I had an impression that they would be late because I myself came about an hour late last year. Haha.

The admin table outside consisted of Jordan, Pam, Melissa, Hanwen, Sylvia, Carol and Jackson. They handled the admin quite well but I still thought it could be done faster. Also, I noted that some OGs had more enthusiastic people or pretty/attractive/outstanding girls than others. I hope this was due to pure chance and not any rigging. Whatever the case, I made a mistake by not verifying the OGs before letting the introduction start proper. In the end, OG 6 had 5 girls and 10 guys whilst OG 5 had about 8 girls and 7 guys. Some other OGs also had more girls than guys. I was not too pleased. But by the time I found out, they were already in their ice-breakers and it was too late to break them. Subsequently, I tried putting any girl who was late into OG 6.

We had my 5.1 speakers to work for the system and the mikes in TH were good. So at 10, we began our intro. There was LAW CLUB, FOCC main committee and finally the LAW CAMP COMM. This was done in 15 mins as compared to last year when every single committee was introduced. It got a bit tedious and complicating for us freshmen. We should stick to a simple intro.

Next, we began a short skit by me, rehearsed just 30 mins ago with zhu. She made me do some stupid stuff. I was rather embarrassed at first but decided to stick to it. It paid off because it was, apparently, either funny/entertaining. I especially liked the part where I shouted ‘SHUDDUP!!!!’. I just love to shout. Then we had the OGLS video and the newscast by Mahesh and Alex.

Ice breakers was held in 4 locations in Temasek Hall. They went well and on time. The ICs had done the recce earlier in the morning and had gone off to prepare the stations during our skit, so all was well on. A problem was the shortage of water bombs for one particular station, wishy washy I think. We needed a few hundred more. Lesson= don’t underestimate the importance of making more water bombs. They always run out faster than you would expect. As a result of the shortage, freshies had to fill water bombs at the end of the game. That should not have happened. By and large the other games went well and were fun enough, as it seemed to me at least. This first activity is crucial for the OGLs to stamp their authority as well as to make their freshies cheer. Start off on a wrong note and you are done for. I spent my time walking around and making sure people were playing by the rules and having fun. For example, I suggested the chicken dance forfeit for the caterpillar chairs station run by Si Cong and Melanie. In the meanwhile, Jackson Sylvia and Carol were busy allocating rooms for the freshies so they could check in at lunch time.

One thing about freshmen room allocation. We should just stick to 2 in a single room and 3 in a double room we save money that way. Besides, many of them would rather have someone to sleep with. I totally understand. I think we wasted about $1500 because of this.

Lunch was good and the TH caterer, Vincent, does a great job. We checked in all the freshies in this hour and b4 lunch even began, we already had our 5.1 and projector shifted to the moot court, ready for Liangwei’s R n F talk. Great job loggies.

RnF, SECRET PAL, MINDBENDERS

Liangwei’s briefing was great. However, it was pushed back to after SP because Liangwei noticed a hitch in the video. Jinhuang, our plant for the day, was very evidently jumping up and down in the RnF video. It’s always good to check your videos and activities b4 your programme begins. It never hurts to be prepared. It always benefits. Also, we had Jugs the genius to help us edit the video so it could be ready to play after SP. Bernia had a short talk too. Watching the video brought back wonderful memories of last year and our stinct at bishan home. It was so care free and fun then. My do a deer dance was shown. The presentation days were a period I will remember forever. New friendships forged, out of which, we have a couple of couples today. Hahahaha. ZERO regrets joining presentation last year. I am glad that I was there.

Secret Pal was a little messy, as expected, but it went well and I think the seniors had more fun than the juniors. We started with a real cheesy but cute skit by Favian and Grace. It was quite funny seeing those 2 act in love. What an odd couple. But it was cute. I actually wanted a longer skit with a little more cheese and romance but we did not have the time to think about it. We spent lotsa time disturbing them and I don’t think many of them actually had proper conversations. One thing we learnt about this batch is that they are significantly guai-er than us and possibly a little more dead. Our batch has many colourful characters. I felt that if all the councilors were more disciplined we could make the waiting time shorter, but oh well, I guess we all had fun tickling and molesting them. Jordan and Pam’s system worked well but I think they should also have included a system on how to deal with stranded freshies or people with no SPs. It’s really a lot more complicating then you would think. Also, its difficult when you have 40 over councilors trying to make fun of 100 blindfolded freshmen. It was chaotic to say the least.

Mindbenders ICs had already prepared their stations during the RnF talk and SP, so it was a smooth transition. WE started off with a skit of Che Guerrera hounding me, the Chief Minister of CAFWAL, for information. I ended off telling they could get information from the ministry of information. This activity was helmed by Adam, Saify, and Pardeep. The 4 stations were well run, but my only grouse is that the classrooms were too small for 2 stations. They were almost 40 people packed into each classroom. This was my fault. I should have forseen that. Anyway Guanzhen was there at mindbenders. Was strange to see him cos 1 year ago he was leading OG8 and now I am in charge of Law Camp. My my my how time does fly.

NIGHT COURT

The freshmen went back for dinner at TH whilst we had our night court dry run settled. It was a bit messy with everyone having their 20 pence worth (damn lawyers) but thankfully manu and Susie managed to tie it all up and we had a few good runs. Technically, the sound, projector and video went well too. Thank God. I went back to bathe and eat and was back, with my garb for the night. Real gay shirt and pants. The judges, Au Da Yu, Sandra Tan, and Kex came at about 7 and we had one last dry run with them. Was good. So in the meantime, the OGLs had already been preparing the freshmen for tonight. I think we scared them a little too much because even when they came in, they were dead silent. They probably thought it was something really serious. Plus the fact that they were well dressed seniors at the back.

So we had our video, our acting and the question asking time which was really stressful for me since I hated acting gay and I don’t think I was really doing a good job. I was more of a sex crazed sissy than anything else. But well, as long as it looked silly and entertaining. Mahesh was really funny because he acted really well as the gardener and we collaborated a couple of times on when he would attack me or Bob(acting as Bob), the wealthy businessman. I was trying my best to stifle my laughter at the times after his ‘attacks’. Once he nearly knocked me off the chair. That was the best. Also, when he shouted at the freshmen to quickly start with the questioning. I really could just burst out laughing.

Then we had the judges come in and the freshmen do their stuff. I think they must have been terribly frustrated. I was last year. Adding to their discomfort was the stuffiness. The management refused to switch on the air con after 9pm and so we had to suffer. There was a little confusion and hiccup regarding the calling of witnesses so we had to waste a good half hour before our plant jinhuang emerged. But that scene was perfect. I think we really scared the balls out of the freshmen. Everyone’s acting was on cue and Barter looked real convincing dragging jin out. All the rehearsals were worth that minute of madness. I even addressed the freshmen after jin was brought out and told them that his was highly inappropriate behaviour. I guess our talking to the judges and their mini lashing of the crowd really worked things out. The freshmen were dead serious. The 2nd plant, our year 3 Albert Loo also did a great job. He seemed nervous and not too confident so his Penal Code 300c did not seem too rehearsed. Fantastic.

I think 1 drawback on our superb acting and creating the somber mood was that the freshmen could not laugh or were unable to see the funny side even when the judges started making them do stupid stuff. I shan’t recount all the funny thing that happened, but of course, we had out Fabio Man of Man from OG8, and we had the bailiff and people shouting good job, well done, in Melayu, Chinese, and Tamil. I will never forget Cheryl, I don’t know which OG she is from. She acted as Bob, and shouted at Fabio, acting as Cuixian/the deceased wife’Susie’ –
‘You! Better give me sex tonight! You better open up your legs or I will pluck out your nanapok!’.

Wah. I laughed till I teared. Even as I am typing this at home, I am grinning. It was so damn funny. In the end, the freshmen realized it was a joke. But Au Da Yu gave them a good debrief and justification for such an event – to prepare them for Judges who are strange and unreasonable. Great.

So we ended day 1, packed up and I had an early night. I think I had the luxury of 6 plus hours of sleep.
