Law Camp Day 2
The station ICs, managed by Azmin, went down to SRC 45 mins earlier to set up. Earlier than that however, some were already there making water bombs. Kudos to these unsung heroes. Azmin and Joanne did a great job and this was one activity I never needed much worrying cos they always had everything laid out beautifully. And everything did go well, on time, and we all had lotsa fun(at least I did).
Ok on to the games. For this activity, I accompanied my OG8 around, cheering them on and helping when I could. First – the Captain’s Ball station. Quite fun, and I really enjoyed seeing them throwing bags of dirty water around. Some looked like leftover cheng teng from 1 week, complete with sweet potato. 1 problem however was that the ground had many giant roots, and as a result, one freshmen, Audrey from OG3 injured herself in the course of the game. On the whole I think we did not emphasize safety enough and I am thankful that this was the only ‘major’ injury. I think in RnF and Matric we need to be more caring towards the freshmen and watch out for their safety and general well-being,
Next station, OG8 went to Shen and Mel’s pass the orange station. These 2 are really thick skinned. I think every OG that came had to call cheer loudly and call them ‘babes’! haha! Quite entertaining seeing them pass the orange with various body parts. But my OG lost and we had to carry each other piggy-back style and run-up and down the slope. I did my part and carried a freshmen up and down too! Fun fun!
Next, this really dirty station called dirt path. Once again, I enjoyed seeing the freshmen going thru the dirt and getting damn dirty! I wanted it to be worse actually but I think I would have been opposed. But anyway I managed to throw a few eggs on the dirt path. Just to add to the madness. OG2 lost to us and Andrew and Grace, as a forfeit, had to crawl through the path too. Haha.
Last, hit the OGLS. I had fun pouring soap water on the canvas but I think I didn’t deter the freshmen much. More fun was hitting tricia and xiaohui with water bombs and pouring buckets of water all over the place. The activity didn’t stop there however. After the games were finished, some of us councilors went crazy and began attacking each other with water bombs and the leftover eggs. Now that’s what I call fun! I stupidly failed in cracking a egg on Gillian shoulders. I forgot that eggs are not that easy to crack. SORRY Gillian for bruising your shoulder. Anyway I think she got her revenge when she splattered an egg all over my back and neck. That was really sick. But I got back when I camped outside the toilet and SPLAT the egg on her hair. Ok all in the name of fun! Besides this, I vividly remember Michelle like a mad woman throwing waterbombs at various guys. That was damn fun too. HAHA. Then the freshmen went back, washed up, and went off for their scavenger hunt.
SCAVENGER HUNT
So after they left, I bathed and settled in TH hall and rested. Han Bob and some others went to HV to buy lunch so Jackson Melanie Sicong and I played a bit of Mahjong. It was fun, resting in the afternoon. But lunch took quite a long time and I was damn hungry. I duly devoured my whopper when it arrived 1 hour plus late.
We started Jungle Trek prep at about 5, with various briefings, and stations being set up. Was quite stressful at this time cos I was afraid we could not co ordinate the kidnapping and guides stuff. Many OGs were coming back late from SH and we started our briefing late. Also, we had to walk the ground b4 starting the activity proper. But the PICs Han and Michelle and the AICs Melanie and sicong were capable enough and though everything started late it was well organized. Great. I was a guide so was not overseeing the whole event. Rather, I was having fun! FUN!
JUNGLE TREK
So the kidnapping started at about 9. I was situated at the level 5 lift lobby in Arts with Shellen, Kailing and Arvind. We tried scaring the freshies when they came out of the lift but I think we failed! They appeared to be blur than anything else. Perhaps they were too shackled by this time of the day. After all, they had already gone through land tele and the afternoon walking in the city hall area. I must say the ski masks that Arvind and I wore were real fun. But he was complaining half the time on how racists the masks were. They could not accommodate his very sharp nose! Haha! So we kidnapped them, shouted at them. Blindfolded them, and set them in their details.
Then the ‘tour’ started! I chose my detail, made of 3 men. Longjin, Winston, and Daniel. There were then known as the ‘Muskees’ (short form for Musketeers) and I told them to call me Sathya. Haha.

The stations are too many and too long to recount. Basically, I had a lot of fun. I usually prefer to be on the ground and doing stuff like this but my appointment in this camp limited my opportunities of meeting and playing with freshmen. I am so glad I was a guide for Jungle Trek.
I think many of us had fun asking stupid questions, tricking the freshmen, and basically doing things to people when they are blindfolded. It’s very thrilling. The swing station was very entertaining, thanks to the guys who made it seem like some Indian station. The accents were really damn funny. Another funny station was the holding area at the Barrels. Bob was bloody funny with a pseudo British accent. He sounded like a mad professor teaching/forcing people to dance. It was hilarious. I don’t know which entertained me more, Bob or the freshmen dancing.
The cat maze station looked like hell. It was chaos all over. Food, water, powder, everything was everywhere. It was hell messy. I had great fun pairing up winston and Quan Quan though. I made him propose and she had to hold the flower everywhere. Haha. There was a lot of shit going on in that station. Shawn was also going crazy making his detail dance and whisper sweet nothings to each other, problem was they were all guys. Haha. I remember a Joseph being a particular good dancer. They should rope him into presentation.
After I bumped into Andrea. She didn’t seem entirely happy about being blindfolded for so long. Cant blame her. I was really sick of this activity last year. I hated it. So this year was our turn to play! Yeay!!! Anyway we had trustfall and something unfortunate happened. One of my detail guy’s shoes was apparently too slippery and he fell off the table, knocking Julia off the table as well. Literally knocked her off her feet. Thankfully he was alright. She however had a great big bruise on her left thigh. It was huge. But, it was ok and nobody was too hurt.

Me just b4 the freshmen unblindfold themselves after 5 hours of 'FUN'.
Xiaohui Gillian and Hsien Fei with their details just before set off.
Me helping to stoke romance between Winston and QuanQuan. LAw is a lovely community.
Jackson and i in Temasek Hall, totally shacked out after jungle trek.
Councilors looking satisfied after torturing freshmen.
Grace looking fresh even at 3am. must be having a great time at Jungle Trek.
group of madmen. April CX Adam xiaozhu Arvind Liangwei.
At the end, we gathered them all at the BIZ lobby and asked them to take off their blindfolds. At the count of 1,2,3 we had a
‘WELCOME TO LAW SCHOOL!’
I thought that was really great. Then we had Han to give a short speech on the purpose of jungle trek and all. Then we packed up. It was very quick and the councilors were quite co operative and I think we finished everything at 3 plus. So I slept at 4 or thereabouts. I enjoyed Jungle Trek the most, out of all the activities. I think cos most other times I was involved in overseeing but this time I actually had the chance to play and interact with others. And it was great. However making sure all the other activities went well and everyone enjoying themselves was also very satisfying for me. So it’s a give and take la. You cant have your cake and eat it.
Supper this night was very good we had chicken foldovers and egg sandwiches. It was really good. It’s a pity many were too tired and didn’t eat them. I think we had at least 50 people’s share leftover. What a great pity. I ate 2. It was to make up for my dinner, which I missed due to the evening’s events. I really like the Temasek and Sheares Hall caterer. The guy in charge is Vincent and he and his wife/sister/friend are really nice. They even gave us free breakfast on Friday. And most importantly, their food is good. Not like last year’s law camp, where we had sh*t food!
