exams are over. phew.
i've been thinking about why i cant be bothered to blog and i cant figure out why. partially cos i have been so busy, and i guess partially cos now i 'report' or recount to someone all that i feel or have gone through. hence lesser the need to flesh it out here.
my original intent on having a blog was to record down what i have been doing and also to paste pictures of beautiful life and moments. i think i also use it as an outlet to express my feelings and opinions about certain issues or matters in lfe.
as for now, since the exams are over, there are a few things i am excited about and are occupying my mind. i dont need to say about Joni cos she's the other constant besides God.
1. THE ELECTIONS~~!!!!
i think it is this saturday right? well to me it does seem a little too soon and i would like more time to assess the candidates and think carefully about whether or not i will vote the opposition purely because they are the opposition or because i think they can do an equally good job as the PAP. but most importantly, i think we do need more opposition in the Parliament to provide as a check. in a way, you could say that there needs to be an opposition just for the sake of having an oppsition. and why not? you cant just allow a party to have full control can you?
i know some Ministers have come up and said that yes, they do not mind having an efficient opposition who questions them and also PROVIDES BETTER SOLUTIONS than what the PAP has been proposing. i agree that probably, the PAP has given us good solutions but notwithstanding that, i think that even if an opposition party does not provide better answers there still needs to exist a REAL opposition voice in Parliament that serves as a check.
and 2 or 3 MPs coupled with a few NCMPs DOES NOT MAKE A REAL OPPOSITION. it is interesting that at this year's nomination day, the PAP was not returned to power automatically. 37 PAP MPs are in without a fight, but there are 47 more seats to be filled. i think we are all sure that PAP WILL RETURN to power and be the ruling government.
however, i see the growing strength of the opposition as a good sign for the local polictics and so does our PM Lee. he has said that he is happy that the PAP has to fight for their place rather then be uncontested. that is the true meaning of 'General Elections'.
i am happy that PM Lee has openly declared that he is happy with the opposition's stronger showing this year and i am excited to see what developments will take place! Hopefully, there will be a more substantial voice parliaments seatings.
now that i have said all these, this is an invitation:
Anyone interested in attending the rallies which are starting tonight? i probably cant make it tonight but am interested in listening to what the opposition has to say. it's going to be exciting! next week!
2. My Thailand mission trip, which is in 4 weeks. will really miss Joni.
3. erm....not sure what else is on ..oh yah. WORKING OUT!!!!!
With that, hope you guys have a good holidays, and for those working or still studying, God Bless and try to enjoy everything that you do!
